The most entertaining visit during this Vietnam Charity Trip was in Plei Jo Drap. The main ethnicity in this village is Rengao. People welcomed us with their western highland dance and gong performance. People in Plei Jo Drap made a living by doing farm and estate labour work, unfortunately, they faced a massive tornado last year and the whole village was affected. It took them some time to rebuild the village. Nevertheless, it’s glad that we brought joy and love to the people here.
Klau Ro Ngoi shocked me with how poor people were. Most of the residents are indigenous people , consisting of Rengao , Serdang Yarai and Banai. Most of them work in the rubber estate or coffee tree farm.
The worst clinic and pharmacy that I have ever seen in my life was in Klau Ro Ngoi. This tiny pathetic “medical centre” was run by a retired indigenous nurse. The drip bottles were scattered on the floor with a straw mat beside the drip stand. There were two patient beds in the “clinic”. The medications in the pharmacy were donated by the priest in that area. There was at least a one hour car drive to the nearest hospital from the estate, but please take note most of the people here do not even have a bike. I can imagine how important this tiny clinic is to them.
Children were very happy on our arrival with the gifts. And of course we also gave out food to the poor families.
