In our last visit to Aboriginal Village in Tapah, Malaysia in Year 2020, we have been contacted by an Aboriginal Farmer (A Long)who was struggling in finding a sustainable way to support his Organic Coffee Tree farm.
Through our conversation with him, we knew A Long is serious in wanting to be successful in the coffee plantation and desires to bring working/ earning opportunities to his village.
Since then, our volunteers including @ Hoy Yee @James @ Ang Ai Lean have been actively in contact with him to try to help him bring the beans to city for processing and marketing.
Unfortunately, the entire process has faced multiple hiccups.
During the first harvest in July 2020, Covid Pandemic lockdown began in Malaysia. Although all the beans were collected, they were spoilt on arrival to Penang. However, we still paid A Long for his harvest.
Finally, in January 2021, A Long had another harvest but Malaysia went into lockdown again. We were devastated and anxious the beans would be wasted again like the first time. With the helps of our volunteers, A Long dried the beans and @Ang Ai Lean helped him deliver the beans to Penang this time.
This time the beans finally arrived in Penang safely. Miss Hoy Yee will dry, peel and also bake the beans professionally. We wish the beans will the turn out well and A Long will have a constant income from his Organic Coffee Beans.
Our next step will be sending a team of coffee professionals to the mountain to impart their knowledge on proper coffee bean processing to A Long and the rest of the villagers.
Thanks to all our volunteers in Malaysia for the hard work!!! We are so proud of you!!
And dear Malaysian fellows, you guys are so lucky to have organic coffee beans on the market soon !!!
